I've had a long and varied set of experiences within Information Technology.
Alticor has a progressive Information Technology organization, and I've been
involved in the infrastructure support for the new projects as they got
implemented. So, I've gone from a simple, terminal based mainframe environment,
to distributed processing, international networks and email, to one of the top
20 retail web sites in the world.
I've learned from each of these experiences and incorporated best practices from
each generation. I've developed staff members, and developed an attitude of
continuous improvement that became part of the culture.
My most recent position was as Manager of Voice and Data Telecommunications.
The exciting event in this position was the launch of the Quixtar web site. We
went from a simple, single system corporate web site to one bigger than Barnes
and Noble in the space of a year.
The position prior to that was just as exciting. I was tasked with the
responsibility of the organization of the infrastructure support for the
midrange systems worldwide. Prior to my involvement, each country had developed
their own methods and standards. It was my job to encourage a common set of
standards and security policies.
Alticor has recently gone through an infrastructure staff consolidation and I
now have an opportunity to apply my skills in a new environment.
I have the skills to work with technical people and translate the business needs
into technology requirements.
